Drexel University is one of the region's premier institutions. Renowned for its academic excellence, Drexel is one of fewer than 50 private universities classified by the Carnegie Foundation as Doctoral/Research-Extensive.
With the approval of the college's five-year strategic plan in 2005, LeBow College Dean George P. Tsetsekos, Ph.D., embarked on an ambitious agenda to construct an outstanding center of business excellence. Grounded in the ideals that founded Drexel University, LeBow College has structured a framework that supports excellence in academic programs, teaching, research, and outreach to serve as a blueprint for future expansion.
The LeBow experience is different from that at other colleges. Drexel University operates on the quarter system, with four quarters per year that are 10 weeks long. One of LeBow's biggest advantages is the world-renowned Drexel Co-op. This co-operative education plan enables students to alternate terms in industry and in the classroom after the freshman year. Co-operative education students usually spend six quarters gaining real-world, professional experience. Most graduate with 18 months of experience on their resumes.
Bennett S. LeBow is a 1960 graduate of Drexel University, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. In 1998, Drexel's College of Business and Administration was named LeBow College of Business in honor of Ben's generous philanthropic contributions to Drexel University. Ben also endowed the Bennett S. LeBow Engineering Center, a state-of-the-art facility that houses Drexel's College of Engineering.

Drexel University was founded in 1891 by Philadelphia financier and philanthropist Anthony J. Drexel as the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry, providing educational opportunities in the "practical arts and sciences" for women and men from all walks of life. Drexel was a leader with remarkable ambition. His belief in and backing of J.P.Morgan forever changed America and earned him the moniker "Father of Wall Street."
