Center for Corporate Reputation Management

The Center for Corporate Reputation Management at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business is the first such center at a U.S. university. The Center is a focal point for the interchange of theory and best practices between business and academia to enhance the ability of organizations to distinguish themselves and build competitive advantage in ways that benefit both the organization and society as a whole.

Corporate reputation management is a growing area of concern globally. Reputation and risk to reputation have been found to be one of the greatest concerns of CEOs around the world. Organizations of all types recognize that trust is critical in a market economy. With growing scandals and the economic downturn, corporate trust has fallen to a new low. Not-for-profits have also felt the impact, as they focus on their reputations to secure needed donations and support. Without trust, people do not invest; the best talent does not join a company; good employees leave; and the competitive position of the company erodes.

From an academic perspective, reputation management is a relatively new field for research. No one academic domain holds exclusive claim on the topic, as reputation research can be found in virtually every discipline of business including marketing, management, economics, accounting, and financial management. Reputation management is also studied in other academic areas including communications, sociology, political science, and cultural studies.

The Center's Executive Director is Elliot S. Schreiber, Ph.D., who spent most of his career leading reputation management efforts at global corporations in the United States and Canada. He is joined by a talented group of faculty and an Advisory Council comprised of elite business executives who help guide the mission and direction of the Center.
