But how does a startup that has limited resources establish effective governance and get the best possible advice at the lowest possible cost? Attend this seminar to learn how to form, constitute and effectively utilize and compensate an advisory committee and how to strategize for effective governance and a corporate culture that provides the best opportunity for accountability and transparency at various stages of a company's lifecycle. Ellen Canan Grady is Counsel in the Corporate, Securities & Technology group in the Northern Virginia office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, LLP, a global top tier law firm. Ms. Grady provides corporate, securities and governance advice to public and private profit and non-profit companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. She has represented numerous public and private companies in all types of corporate transactional work, securities offerings and securities law compliance, as well as provided advice to Boards of Directors and senior managers on corporate governance and compliance matters. Ms. Grady also has substantive experience documenting, negotiating and advising on all types of corporate and commercial agreements, including joint ventures, supplier/vendor relationships and agreements among equity stakeholders. Ms. Grady has acted as the lead securities attorney on numerous public and private equity offerings, debt offerings and mergers and acquisitions. Her practice includes extensive work on corporate governance “best practices.” Ms. Grady also has advised many public companies on securities compliance issues, including Exchange Act and NYSE/Nasdaq reporting and filing requirements. Ms. Grady previously maintained her own sole practitioner law practice advising small businesses and wealthy entrepreneurs on business law matters. As primary counsel to these businesses and individuals, Ms. Grady assisted with all legal aspects of business operations from entity structure and formation, to commercial documents and financing transactions, to relationships with equity stakeholders and Boards of Directors. Ms. Grady is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and is a member of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania bar. |
