| Description: | Presented by: David Gefen, Ph.D. Professor of Management Drexel University's LeBow College of Business Outsourcing, initially dealing with information systems but increasingly dealing with other goods and services, has become a major drive in the US and global economy. Despite its increasing importance, many outsourcing initiatives fail. The program presents a balanced presentation of the risks and benefits of outsourcing and what should be the objectives and mindset of successful outsourcing. It also discusses the appropriate skill set, how to approach this risky endeavor, knowledge of what you need, and realizing the risks in outsourcing. The course concentrates on information systems outsourcing but its lessons apply to other types of less common types of outsourcing. Learning Objectives: 1. Understanding the risks of outsourcing. 2. Why you do and do not want to outsource. 3. How to go about the process. 4. How to manage your relationship with vendors.
