Description: Sponsored by Drexel University's LeBow College of Business Corporate and Executive Education Center and College of Engineering.

This seminar will provide an overview of recent advances in the field of wireless communications. The seminar will begin by providing an overview of modern wireless signaling techniques and antenna technology. We will then discuss how advances in these fields, coupled with cognitive radios that are capable of assessing and adapting to their environment, have the potential to vastly improve wireless networks over conventional systems.

Learning Objectives:
1. Technical challenges facing next generation communication systems
2. Fundamentals of conformal antennas and electromagnetic signal propagation
3. Fundamentals of next generation wireless signaling techniques
4. Cutting edge research in the area of wireless communications over several application areas including wireless local area networks, cellular communications, and RFID.

Presented by Kapil R. Dandekar, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Drexel University's College of Engineering

Dr. Kapil R. Dandekar is also the Director of Drexel Wireless Systems Laboratory (DWSL). He has published numerous journal articals for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and he currently serves on the editorial board of the IEEE Expert Now and Educational Activities Board.

Dr. Dandekar earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia and his Masters of Science and Doctoral degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
