Faculty Research News - Summer 2009

Sep 11, 2009 - Dr. Shawkat Hammoudeh, professor of economics and international business, organized and chaired the session "Commodities and the Macroeconomy" at the 84th Western Economic Association International Conference, held in Vancouver, Canada. He also presented in the same session the papers "Precious Metal-Exchange Rate Volatility Transmissions and Hedging Strategies" and "Commodity and Relevant Macro-Financial Variables: Empirical Analysis of Dynamic Causal Relationship in a Regime Switching Environment."

Dali Ma, Ph.D., Wins William H. Newman Award

Aug 11, 2009 - Dali Ma, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Management at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business, was awarded the Academy of Management's prestigious all-academy William H. Newman Award for Best Dissertation Paper, for his paper "Bring the Society Back In: Relational Identities in the Creation of Entrepreneurship" at the Academy's annual meeting last weekend.

"Say on Pay" Paper Makes Top 10 SSRN List

Mar 31, 2009 - The research paper entitled "Shareholders' Say on Pay: Does it Create Value?," written by LeBow College of Business professors Dr. Ralph Walkling, Stratakis Chair in Corporate Governance and Accountability and Executive Director of the College's Center for Corporate Governance, and Dr. Jie Cai, Professor of Finance, has been listed among the top 10 papers downloaded from the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).

Dr. Teresa Harrison's Paper Accepted For Publication in Economic Inquiry

Drexel Accounting Professor Available to Comment on U.S. Adoption of IFRS Accounting Standards

Dec 16, 2008 - Drexel University's Dr. David Campbell, a professor at the University's LeBow College of Business is available to comment on the challenges and opportunities presented by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) roadmap for U.S. companies to adopt IFRS accounting standards. While the SEC is awaiting comments to its IFRS Roadmap Release due February 19, as well as the arrival of the new Obama Administration in January, Campbell can discuss why it is imperative for companies to consider steps they can take now toward IFRS implementation.

Journal of Management Recognizes Accomplishments of Dr. Jeffrey Greenhaus

Dec 10, 2007 - A recent article in the Journal of Management highlighted the accomplishments of Dr. Jeffrey Greenhaus, professor of management and William A. Mackie Chaired Professor, and the prestige he has brought to Drexel University and LeBow College of Business since joining the University in 1981. The article named Dr. Greenhaus among the 150 most-cited authors in the field of management - at number 56. The article noted that Dr. Greenhaus' work was cited at least 1,184 times between 1981 and 2004.

LeBow College Awarded Kauffman Foundation Grant

Nov 11, 2008 - LeBow College of Business received a $20,204 research grant on behalf of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The funds are aimed to support research of corporate entrepreneurship initiatives in the research and development sector of the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. David Campbell Reacts to IFRS Plan

Nov 04, 2008 - For U.S. GAAP, the end of an era could be in the making. In August, the SEC unveiled a proposed road map that begins to widen the acceptance of International Financial Reporting Standards. The plan could lead to a requirement for U.S. public companies to begin using IFRS by 2014.
