Center for Teaching Excellence

The Center for Teaching Excellence at the LeBow College of Business is a central part of the College's vision of becoming one of the premier institutions in educating management professionals.

The objective of the center is to raise and continually improve the level of teaching excellence and the quality of the student experience (in all of the College's academic programs) to be competitive against top business schools.

Among the most important activities of the Center are:

  • Provide faculty development workshops, faculty mentoring and support systems to enhance teaching effectiveness, curriculum integration, and academic program enhancement by the College's full-time and adjunct faculty;
  • Encourage and support faculty research and publication in the areas of instructional development and teaching effectiveness;
  • Provide faculty development and support in the effective and creative use of state-of-the-art technology in the educational process;
  • Develop and mentor the College's Ph.D. candidates in the areas of teaching effectiveness and instructional development research
  • Provide workshops, guidance, and mentoring to junior faculty during the tenure/promotion process on building teaching portfolios and enhancing teaching effectiveness
  • Provide a vehicle to formally recognize, encourage and reward outstanding teaching in all LeBow College academic programs;
  • Continually improve the Teacher and Course evaluation instruments used by the College as well as other mechanisms which provide student feedback to faculty;
  • Provide a linkage to LeBow alumni that focuses on "great moments in teaching by LeBow faculty" and consolidate into a publication for potential students;
  • Coordinate and promote other Drexel initiatives in faculty development in teaching excellence, effective utilization of technology in teaching and learning, and instructional development research.
