Department of Management

The Management Department encompasses the academic disciplines of Management Information Systems, Strategy and Entrepreneurship, and Organization Sciences.

Management Information Systems
MIS involves the study of business and computerized information technology. The goal is to integrate both areas of expertise and apply the power of technology to solving business problems.

Career opportunities include business people who specialize in computer-based resources, managers of information resource units and computer system developers.

Strategy and Entrepreneurship
Strategy is about creating the future in established organizations and new ventures. All of our strategy courses emphasize the criticality of strategic leadership, strategy formulation and implementation, technology management and innovation. Our entrepreneurship courses and concentration focus on the skill sets of entrepreneurs, both in the context of new venture creation and within established organizations. Our strategy and entrepreneurship faculty faculty bring a unique blend of research, experiences and teaching in this area.

Organizational Behavior
Organizational Behavior (OB) is an interdisciplinary field of study dedicated to understanding how differences in attributes and behavior at various levels (e.g., individual, dyad, group, etc.) influence outcomes of importance to organizations, their members, and other stakeholders. In the undergraduate program, students are introduced to core concepts, principles, and theories of OB and taught how to apply these to situations they will face as employees and leaders. The MBA curriculum includes courses in leadership that provide a foundation for students to develop as effective leaders through different levels of advancement and responsibility and across the lifespan. The MBA program also offers a concentration in Organization Management that prepares students to assume leadership roles in organizational settings. At the PhD level, students may pursue a specialization in Organization and Strategy in which they learn how to conduct significant research on behavioral and strategic issues facing contemporary organizations.
