| Description: | In alignment with the global scope strategic initiative, LeBow College of Business will be hosting a colloquium facilitated by Richard Prestage to discuss ALMA - The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array. ALMA will enable transformational research into the physics of the cold Universe, regions that are optically dark but shine brightly in the millimeter portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. Providing astronomers a new window on celestial origins, ALMA will probe the first stars and galaxies, and directly image the formation of planets. The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) is a 66-element radio telescope currently under construction on the Chajnantor altiplano in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. With a construction cost of US $1.3B, ALMA is revolutionary in its scientific concept, in its engineering design, and in its organization as a global scientific endeavor. When completed in 2012, ALMA will be a transformational instrument, providing an imaging capability at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths equal in clarity of detail to the Hubble Space Telescope and large ground-based optical telescopes. In this talk he will present a general overview of the ALMA project, from the perspective of scientific goals, organizational structure, and technological implementation. Colloquium: Pearlstein 403 3:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Reception: Pearlstein 4th floor lobby 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Richard Prestage Head of Technical Services Joint ALMA Observatory Richard Prestage received a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Leeds (1981) and a Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Edinburgh, UK (1984). After a NATO Fellowship at the University of Arizona's Steward Observatory, Richard has worked at a number of major UK and US radio observatories, with an emphasis on telescope characterization and performance improvement. From 2006-2008 he was Site Director for the NRAO 100m Green Bank Telescope. For the last year, he has been Head of Technical Services for the Joint ALMA Observatory in Chile. |

| Description: | Please Read: If you do not plan on applying to Drexel's MBA Programs, then the cost for the GMAT Prep Course is $800.00. You MUST start an online/paper application with LeBow MBA Programs before the start of the class. The Professional MBA Program offers on-campus GMAT Prep resources for prospective students. The Weekend Intensive Course is from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm on August 8-9, 2009, Saturday and Sunday. We will serve continental breakfast and lunch during your sessions. GMAT Prep Course - Special Price: $450.00. GMAT Prep fees are as followed: $400 for the sessions and $50 for books. GMAT Advantage Credit: Reimbursement is in the form of a tuition credit of $400, if you score a minimum score of 570 and are admitted and enroll in a Drexel MBA program.
