Entrepreneurship: Leading Like an Entrepreneur
Program Description:
Innovation is critical to competitive advantage and creating innovative enterprises cannot be left to chance. Identifying and developing new strategic opportunities is an entrepreneurial skill that can be incorporated into strategic planning and implementation. Leveraging the practical and scholarly expertise of LeBow's Entrepreneurship faculty and Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship in Technology, this program focuses on the development of entrepreneurial skills in established enterprises. Participants will learn skills related to corporate entrepreneurship, corporate venturing and new business development. Each course is delivered over a 5-week period and a total of 30 hours of instruction time.
LeBow College's Graduate Certificate programs are delivered by Drexel University faculty who teach in our internationally recognized Master's degree programs.

Requirements for Graduate Credit/Certificate Awards:
Complete the entire four course series* and receive a Certificate of Professional Development. Upon completion of individual courses or the entire program, participants may earn graduate-level course credit which can be applied toward selected Drexel University MBA or M.S. programs. A formal graduate application must be submitted. Continuing Education Units (CEU) credits and Continuing Professional Educational (CPE) credits may also be applicable. Successful completion of the four course program can earn the participant 144 CPE credits in the areas of Accounting, Business Management and Organization, Economics, Finance, Communications, and Social Environment of Business.
Course Details

(This course does not qualify for credits but will prepare the participant to address business concepts covered in the program.)
Delivery: Classroom, 8 hours
Students will learn to deal interactively in two critical areas: 1) planning and shaping the external outreach of a company through marketing, branding, competitive strategy, and innovation and 2) anticipating and responding to major threats, shifts, and forces in the marketplace – including crisis. Students will also analyze key corporate-wide growth driving actions and tactics used today – such as planning, positioning, differentiation, and branding, market selection, innovation, competition, crisis management, and the role of the media. The purpose of this short course is to introduce students to broad business topics and show how they relate to the functions of an entire organization.
MODULE 1
MGMT 652 - New Venture Planning
Delivery: Classroom and Online
One of the most exciting and satisfying activities in business is to start a new venture. In this course, students will learn how to prepare a comprehensive business strategy for launching a new business. The vehicle for doing this is the preparation of a start-up business plan based on an opportunity that students have selected. Students will draw upon their business education and experience to develop a plan for launching a new venture. Working in small teams, students will research the market for the product or service; prepare marketing, sales, development and operations plans; and make financial projections.
MODULE 2
MGMT 650 - Corporate Venturing
Delivery: Classroom or Online
This course examines how organizations effectively create new businesses and foster innovation. It focuses on the process through which organizations turn a good idea into a viable business. Students will learn how to encourage entrepreneurship, identify opportunities, locate potential new business within the firm, select the right managers, and set up planning processes.
MODULE 3
FIN 635 - Entrepreneurial Finance
Delivery: Classroom or Online
The purpose of this course is to bring financial management decision, tools and techniques typically applied in corporate contexts into the realm of entrepreneurship. It presents the importance of understanding and applying entrepreneurial finance methods and tools to help ensure a successful venture. The course will enable students to enhance their knowledge of sound principles of finance and alternative sources of finance. They will learn about venture capital financing and initial public offerings (IPO) and the role they play in financing high growth, high tech businesses and finance negotiations.
MODULE 4
MKTG 638 - New Product Planning, Strategy and Development
Delivery: Classroom or Online
Examines the process of strategic planning for marketing innovation and development of new products in a dynamic business environment. Integrates concepts and techniques from several disciplines to enable students to understand new product development. Topics include techniques and methods in identifying new product (product/service) opportunities; new product development strategy; and the influence of markets and technology upon new product success.
