Drexel Executive MBA

Testimonials

Participating in EMBA offered me an unparalleled opportunity to learn not just from all the great instructors in the program who brought academic and practical experience to their teaching, but also from the other students who came to Drexel with their own wealth of experience and knowledge. The cohorted program builds close relationships within the group allowing continuous sharing of experience and knowledge. From a practical perspective, participation in the program was made easy. The LeBow staff understands that we all have busy professional careers and other activities and responsibilities in our lives. While it still takes a lot of personal time, the program is very flexible. The LeBow staff has removed the logistical obstacles.

I chose to pursue my EMBA at Drexel because of LeBow's strong emphasis on leadership development. I was transitioning my career from auditing into operations and finance, and I needed to accelerate my understanding of business principles and develop my leadership skills. The EMBA at Drexel introduced me to broader business concepts and accelerated my growth into a leadership role. As I progressed through the curriculum, I discovered how the classes in the program would help shape my career. I found the cohorted program to be ideal as the interaction among the student base, comprising not only business professionals but doctors and lawyers, too, was invaluable. Group discussions were always very lively and challenging as we learned from each other's experiences. Being with the same team for two years, was a great aspect of the program. I've build lifelong relationships.

EMBA Class of 2007

Thank goodness for my Drexel MBA! I came to the Drexel EMBA program to enhance my knowledge base and business skills to be better prepared to participate in the great growth economy of the 21st century. Little did I know how valuable my education would become as the world turned upside down.

During the first days of the program, each new EMBA student was asked what we planned to do after we earned our degree. My stated goal was to start my own homebuilding company. I am proud to be able to say that I followed through on that goal. Despite great odds due to the failing health of the housing market and broader world economy, I was able to prepare a business plan and complete a substantial capital raise.

Who knew that the exposure and training I received in the EMBA program would be put to the ultimate test? I was literally pitching investors and raising capital in September and October of 2008 as Wall Street was perceived to be terminally ill. In creating and preparing the business prospectus for my start-up company, I drew on virtually everything I learned in every course, even referring to several of my texts for refreshers on certain topics.

I have done everything from an elevator pitch to a SWOT analysis; a break-even analysis, cash flow forecasts and IRR scenarios. I am employing a broad differentiation strategy that is allowing me entry into a crowded and competitive space with a unique selling proposition. All of this helped me to achieve a capital investment in my new company that is more than double the target amount. Now, I am in the infrastructure development stage, establishing operating protocols, process mapping, policy and procedure.

My Drexel EMBA educational experience is wholly responsible for where I am today! The EMBA program gave me a skill set that provided the confidence I needed to act on my entrepreneurial spirit. Unlike my undergraduate calculus course, I actually use this stuff! Drexel EMBA helped me grow from a dreamer into a doer.

I am proud to say I am a graduate of Drexel's EMBA Program, and I am so grateful to the University and to my classmates in the program for my experience. Thank you for the incredibly practical and valuable business tool kit.
