MD/MBA

The MD/MBA degree addresses a growing need for physicians with the ability to manage corporate medical practices, hospitals and related organizations, as well as contribute to health policy development. Physicians with an MBA will be prepared to handle issues of quality, access, cost-effectiveness and efficiency of health care services.

The MD/MBA Program prepares physicians to apply management principles to individual or group practices, or to move into management positions at health care management and pharmaceutical companies.

Competition, marketing, finance, accounting, control, personnel, purchasing, service operations, and long-term strategic planning are traditional business practices that are now being applied in the health care field.

Individuals holding an MD/MBA degree are better equipped to manage the effects of government policy on medical practices and institutions and influence the direction of government in medical research.
