Business Learning Community : Goals

Academic
  • Academic performance is enhanced through the academically-focused atmosphere.
  • Students meet with an academic adviser at least once a term to assess their academic, social and co-curricular progress.
  • Students develop an academic plan of study for their entire program of study with the assistance of an academic adviser.
  • In-house tutoring and academic development workshops are available. Study groups are encouraged to increase student learning and academic achievement.
Social
  • Students build relationships with other students and upperclassmen who have the same interests and goals for academic achievement and success within LeBow College of Business and beyond.
  • Students attend socials and campus events offered by the BLC program, Student Life, Residential Living, Commuter Student Programs and Services and Drexel University.
Co-Curricular
  • The requirement to participate in at least one student organization assists students in becoming well-rounded and marketable to employers and graduate schools. Student organization members advise the community of the benefits of joining their organizations.
  • Students become personally responsible and self-directed in a more demanding and academic focused environment. Cohorted classes and living arrangements give BLC students the opportunity to form a peer-to-peer support network in both academic and social areas.
  • By earning CEO certification, students develop leadership skills and identify their strengths and weaknesses with an action plan for continued personal and professional development.
  • Students are encouraged to work together on classroom assignments, in co-curricular organizations and projects. This mutual support engages students to make the most of their college experiences.
Career Exploration
  • Students have the opportunity to attend workshops offered by faculty, career management personnel and business leaders. Participation in these workshops foster strong relationships with faculty, administrators and the business community.
  • Students network and establish relationships with business professionals within the CEO program.
