The LeBow College of Business Summer Economics Institute introduces rising high school juniors and seniors to a world of discovery where they will see the underlying connections across varied economic phenomena. Students will experience how firms maximize profits by participating in a simulation where they will compete with others in running a company and in making decisions that will lead to increased profitability.

The Economics Department in LeBow College of Business prepares students for a wide variety of post-graduate opportunities. Economics students may work in business management and consulting, local economic development, or governmental and international agencies. Students may also choose to pursue research-oriented positions, law school, or business journalism.

DAYS 1-4

Summer Economics Institute participants will spend their days learning, from LeBow faculty, about various world phenomena and how they relate to economics. Students will take a field trip to give them the opportunity to explore economics at work in Philadelphia. Working in competitive teams with simulation software will further bring important economic concepts to life for students.

DAY 5

Summer Economics Institute culminates with a competition where students will present their simulation findings to a “board”. Prizes are awarded to the winning team. Certificates of Completion are issued at the end of the program.
