The Drexel Co-op

BSBA Student Philip Sirolli's Co-op

Read about BSB&E major Mohsin Khawaja's experience.

One of LeBow College's biggest advantages is its world-renowned Drexel Co-op. Other colleges and universities may offer internships and work-study programs, but Drexel is one of only a few schools that offer six-month terms of full-time employment in real-world jobs. Employers will tell you this experience is key.

The co-operative education plan enables you to alternate terms in industry and in the classroom after your freshman year. Most students will graduate from Drexel with 18 months of professional work experience - which usually results in a higher starting salary. Also, co-op is a great way to get several real-world job interviews under your belt before you even get your degree!

Undergraduate Advising Center

LeBow College's Undergraduate Advising Center has professional academic advisors to help you during your four or five years at Drexel. The center coordinates, plans and organizes a range of programs to fill your advising needs. Most colleges have a central advising center to address all students, but at Drexel, we are fortunate to have our own advising center that services LeBow College of Business students only.

If you're unsure as to which major or concentration you would like to study, the Advising Center can help. Students are also able to meet individually with LeBow career advisors for expert advice on resume preparation, interviewing etiquette and salary negotiation techniques. The advising team works closely with employers interested in recruiting LeBow's undergraduate students.

Steinbright Career Development Center

The Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC) offers students career assessment tools, including personality and interest inventories, which help students clarify their interests as they relate to career choice, identify their motivators and preferences in order to make a better match between personality and work setting, and understand how certain personality factors affect career decision making and selection.

For students seeking co-op placement, SCDC hosts a series of workshops that will help improve resume and interview skills on topics such as speed interviewing, how to answer tough interview questions, resume repair, and conducting independent job searches.

There are currently more than 1,500 co-op employers in the program, located in 27 states and 12 foreign countries, including Australia, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Israel, and Spain.

Transfer students who enter Drexel during the fall term and are in a five-year major are set to a spring/summer co-op cycle, which means they'll apply for jobs in November. Transfer students must take Co-op 101 and receive credit before they can participate in the co-op program. International transfer students from an institution outside the United States must be in class for three terms before they are allowed to participate in co-op.
