"Most of my tasks as a brand protector at my co-op at J.P. Morgan Chase and Co. involved legal work. I was able to utilize the analytical and critical thinking skills that I have developed as an economics major at Drexel LeBow.
One of the benefits of being an Econ major is the variety of career paths to
choose from — and I have a job at Vanguard waiting for me come graduation!"

Morgan Merge '11, BS in Economics and BSBA with a concentration in Economics

National Economics Rankings
Economics is at the root of business decisions, government policy making, and global relations. As a course of study, it can lead to diverse career opportunities, and is often viewed favorably as excellent preparation for graduate programs such as business and law.
Drexel LeBow’s economics offerings include a BS in Economics, an Economics Concentration within the Business Administration program and minors in Economics and International Economics.
A degree, concentration or minor in economics from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business provides students with a robust understanding of the workings of the market system and major economic institutions, economic policy, and development.
The BS in Economics degree prepares students for graduate study in rigorous quantitative programs in economics and related fields. This program also prepares students for professional work in quantitative economics or closely related areas, by providing coursework in both economics and mathematics.
The BS in Economics program offers two concentration choices: Business Economics or Mathematical Economics.
BS in Economics Degree Requirements
This concentration prepares students to apply the rigorous methods of modern quantitative economics as professionals in a business context. This program combines coursework in economics and the functional fields of business administration within the context of a general scientific and humanities curriculum.
This concentration prepares students for graduate study in quantitative and rigorous programs in economics and related fields. This program will also prepare students for professional work in quantitative economics or closely related areas, by providing coursework in economics and mathematics, in the context of a general scientific and humanities curriculum.
As an alternative to choosing one of these concentrations, students may also personalize their degree by developing a depth of knowledge in a secondary minor or major field outside of economics such as finance, social sciences, international studies or natural sciences.
A degree in Business Administration leads students to develop strong business capabilities and cultivate leadership skills through citizenship and community engagement. Combining a traditional business administration program with a concentration in economics provides both a solid foundation of business knowledge and the strong analytical skills provided by an economics degree program.
Many students pursuing a BSBA with a concentration in Economics also choose to earn a dual degree, the BS in Economics, for maximum depth of knowledge in both business fundamentals and economics.
Obtaining a minor in Economics would be a great way for a student in almost any major course of study to stand out among his or her peers. Economics is an excellent complement to a wide range of fields, providing students with practical analytical and problem solving skills, and it looks great as a minor on graduate applications.
Students interested in economic aspects of the globalization process can obtain an International Economics minor. This minor offers the option of taking courses in Economics and in other business disciplines within LeBow College.
Economics provides an excellent foundation for many career options and can also be combined with many other majors and minors in preparing students for great careers.
