Center for Corporate Governance

Patricia Connolly is a catalyst for thoughtful, constructive discussions on issues and new ideas for leading and governing in the 21st century. She brings heightened awareness to the broader implications of external influences and strategies to stay ahead of the curve. She is a non-linear thinker who asks insightful questions and guides thoughtful exploration of the “what ifs”. With well-developed intuition, she effortlessly navigates organizational cultures and relationships with diverse stakeholders. Patricia brings a high level of energy, transparency, and extensive experience in corporate governance and leadership to any task and discussion.

Currently, as Director for the Center for Corporate Governance of Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business, Patricia develops strategic partnerships with public, private, and not-for-profit boards of directors to address best practices in board governance. She works closely with the Center’s Advisory Board of key corporate executives on addressing the “real world” needs of today’s Boards. From this have emerged two influential programs, the Directors’ Dialogue and the Directors’ Academy. The Directors’ Dialogue is an invitation-only annual forum attended by public board members for candid discussion of emerging trends and their impact on board leadership. The Directors’ Academy is an exciting new program for developing board-ready candidates.

With the invaluable blend of a banking career and not-for profit leadership, Patricia navigates easily through organizations with different business models and access to resources. At PNC Financial Corp., she rose to Group Vice President in the retail and private banking group and subsequently held executive positions with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Academy of Natural Sciences. In her not-for-profit roles, Patricia excelled in finding investors for key strategic initiatives.

Patricia holds a BA in History from Bryn Mawr College and an MA in Liberal Arts from the University of Pennsylvania. She received the NACD Certificate of Director Education and the University Of Pennsylvania Certificate Of Executive Administration for Non Profits. She is a Certified Governance Trainer for BoardSource, a national organization dedicated to advancing board leadership and effective governance. Patricia is a member of Women Corporate Directors (WCD) and serves on the boards of Shore Medical Center and Chestnut Hill College.
