MD and MBA Dual Degree Program
Drexel’s College of Medicine and LeBow College of Business offer a joint MD and MBA program geared towards addressing the growing need of physicians to have the business skills for managing corporate medical practices, hospitals and related organizations, as well as contribute to health policy development.
Physicians with an MD/MBA degree benefit from their ability to handle issues of quality, access, cost-effectiveness and efficiency of health care services.
How long is the MD/MBA dual degree program?
Medical students enrolled in the MD/MBA dual degree program are integrated into the full-time MBA program. The program starts in September, includes a week of orientation and ends in June of the following year. The MBA degree will be completed during the students’ third or fourth year, depending on residency scheduling.
MD/MBA Program Curriculum
Students in the MD/MBA program complete 45 credits towards their MBA, sharing six credits with the medical school for a total of 51 credits. MD/MBA students are eligible for and encouraged to immerse themselves in their business education and take part in Career Services workshops, recruiting events and career counseling. There will be an opportunity to take part in consulting projects on multiple topics, including the healthcare industry.

MD/MBA Program Admissions Requirements
To be considered for the MD/MBA, students must:
- Pass USMLE Step I in order to proceed into the third year of the MD/MBA joint degree program
- Submit a GMAT or GRE score as part of the MBA admissions process
Merit scholarships are available for qualified students.
