Commitment to Excellence

The mission of Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business is to develop exceptional business leaders. The purpose of this Commitment to Excellence is to define the standards that ensure academic integrity, ethical conduct, and the foundation of successful leadership. Honor and integrity are valued in life, business, and in the classroom. LeBow College of Business students are expected to act with honor and integrity and to conduct themselves in a professional manner inside and outside the classroom. Pursuit of a graduate business certificate is a challenging and rewarding academic endeavor.

Successful completion of the program requires your commitment to the learning experience with respect to communication, relationships, and teamwork. Students are expected to uphold the specific principles described in this Commitment and to actively support it. Standing in the LeBow community will be subject to adherence to these basic principles of ethics.

Academic Honesty

Drexel University is committed to academic honesty and protecting members of its community from the results of dishonest conduct. Any action that undermines the pursuit of knowledge is unacceptable. All stakeholders in the educational process should observe professional standards regarding issues of courtesy, honesty, plagiarism, confidentiality, scholarship, punctuality and participation in classes.

The University has outlined four categories of academic dishonesty: academic misconduct, cheating, fabrication and plagiarism. LeBow Students are expected to be honest in all written or oral statements. The student will not misrepresent any material fact to other students, faculty, staff, or anyone else while representing himself or herself as a member of the LeBow community. If a student is suspected of violating the academic honesty policy, the faculty member will notify the student and seek an explanation. The faculty member will investigate to determine whether a violation has occurred. Should it be determined that a violation has occurred, the faculty member will follow the University’s academic dishonesty policy and procedures. Student Conduct

LeBow students are expected to attend class and observe faculty course expectations as stated in course syllabus. It is expected that students will conduct themselves responsibly and demonstrate respect for faculty, fellow students and staff. Electronic devices in the classroom are to be utilized for instructional purposes only. Students are expected to help to maintain a learning environment and minimize distractions of any kind. Failure to comply will result in formal disciplinary action. Participation in team projects is an integral part of the learning experience. Team excellence requires a combination of communication skills, collaboration, respect, honesty, and individual contribution. Participants should strive for a positive collaborative team experience.

Financial Responsibility

Students accept financial obligations to pursue a graduate education. Tuition rates, fees and related expenses vary depending on program format. It is imperative that financing options are explored and secured prior to starting graduate studies and that students meet tuition and fees deadlines.

Beyond the Classroom

An effective and lasting learning experience extends beyond the classroom. Participation in LeBow College ofBusiness functions and events will expand your network and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Throughout the program, preparation, participation and time management will be critical components for you to grow intellectually and contribute to the learning environment. It is expected that students will read relevant business literature in addition to assigned readings and be aware of events that may be applicable in class discussions.

LeBow College of Business recognizes that its graduate students are at various stages of career growth. Services that assist in career management to optimize the graduate experience are available and the responsibility of the student to utilize. Co-curricular activities and career management opportunities offered will aid students in realizing their return on investment upon graduation.
