Join the Drexel University Alumni Association and hear from Stan Silverman, BS ’69, MBA ’74, Trustee, former CEO of a global company, public and private board member and advisor to current and aspiring leaders, as he shares his insight into what effective leaders know and do.

Stan Silverman, BS ’69, MBA ’74 Founder, Silverman C-Suite Performance Group Drexel University Board of Trustees

Stan Silverman is the Leadership Catalyst at Tier 1 Group, a firm of strategists and advisors for preeminent growth. In this role, he mentors current and future leaders, advising them on addressing their people, organizational and business issues. He is also a guest columnist on effective leadership for Philadelphia Business Journal.

Stan gained valuable leadership experience as a CEO, a university trustee, and a board member, by observing how other CEOs lead their organizations. He has broad experience serving as a director of public, private, and private equity companies, as well as trade association, educational and economic development organizations.

Throughout his career, Stan has been both a student and teacher of leadership, and has been recognized for his experience and expertise by being invited as a guest lecturer on this subject at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and at Drexel University.

As the former president and CEO of PQ Corporation, a company operating in North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific in two core businesses – chemicals and engineered glass materials, he gained significant culturally diverse experience leading a global enterprise.

Currently, Stan serves as vice chairman of the board of trustees of Drexel University, chairman of the Drexel College of Medicine Advisory Board, and is a trustee of Friends Select School. He is a member of a number of private and private equity boards, as well as the board of Ben Franklin Technology Partners, where he chairs the audit committee. He is former chairman of the board of the Drexel College of Medicine.

Stan earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and an MBA degree from Drexel University, and completed the advanced management program at the Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Union League of Philadelphia and the Harvard Club of NYC.
