Preparing to use a vApp

Connect to the Drexel VPN (if not on the Drexel network)

  1. Open a web browser and browse to http://vpn.drexel.edu. (For more information, visit the IRT VPN Help Page.
  2. When prompted, log in using your official Drexel username and password.
  3. Once you are successfully logged in, click the Start AnyConnect link on the left side of the page.

Microsoft Remote Desktop Client

All LCB vApps require the installation of the Microsoft Remote Desktop client. All Windows machines come pre-loaded with this software. For a Mac, you can download and install the Microsoft Remote Desktop client free of charge from the Mac App Store.

Installing the vApp

  1. Browse to the LCB vApp Download Center.
    • NOTE: For the Username field, be sure to enter your username in the following format - DREXEL\abc123.
  2. Click the vApp link for the software you are interested in and save the download file to a location you can easily find in the future.

Using the vApp

  1. Once downloaded, double-click on the vApp file. If you are prompted to trust the publisher, simply agree.
  2. When prompted, log in with your official Drexel username and password.
    • NOTE: For the Username field, be sure to enter your username in the following format - DREXEL\abc123.
  3. After a brief pause, the application will launch and you are now ready to use the software.

Saving/Opening files

When working with files, you may save and/or load files to your local computer.

On A Mac: Select the drive labeled home on XXXXX from the left panel of the Save dialogue window. This home location is connected to your local machine. You can browse to whatever folder to load and/or save files.

Windows: Select the drive labeled C on XXXXX from the left panel of the Save dialogue window. This C Drive location is connected to your local machine. You can browse to whatever folder to load and/or save files.
