| Description: | Association for Corporate Growth Philadelphia is pleased to present the 4th annual ACG Philadelphia Cup. Launched in 2007, the Philadelphia Cup is a highly realistic private equity/investment banking case study contest that will present a total of $25,000 in awards to MBA students representing some of the top MBA programs in the greater Philadelphia area. ACG Cup Timeline December 1, 2008 - January 31, 2010: Registration/School Team Sign-up There are no limitations on the team size except that it must be comprised of at least 2 MBA/MS Finance students from the participating schools. Based upon experience, we recommend a team consist of 3 - 4 students. The competition is open to all graduate school business students and MS finance degrees at participating universities, whether they are full-time, part-time or executive MBAs. January 2010, 6-8 pm: For the second year, ACG will host a workshop for registered teams on Mastering a Winning Presentation. Topics to be covered include: presentation skills (oral & written), valuation skills, private company financial metrics, and common mistakes, as well as time for Q&A. Hosted by ACG Cup sponsor KPMG, 1601 Market Street. February: Release of Case Study & Round 1 / On-Campus Round While the exact nature of the case will not be revealed ahead of time, the case will be a classic buy side investment banking scenario. Each team will analyze and present their recommendations and supporting rationale for a complex investment case that requires corporate strategy, finance and valuation skills. ACG will utilize a Virtual Data Room for the release of the case. All registered team members will receive log in and password information to the Merrill DataSite. Teams will have 2 weeks to prepare for the case in advance of the Round 1 Competition. School representatives will communicate with your team, as necessary, throughout this process and be available to answer questions (other than related to the case itself). Specific logistics for on campus rounds will be communicated by your respective school contact. Questions should be directed to those individuals on the School Contact. Judges will include faculty and/or industry professionals using a set of criteria provided by ACG for evaluating the presentations. Evaluation criteria will be provided upon the release of the business case. Early April 2010. Round 2 / Finals Teams will compete head-to-head with the winners from the other regional MBA schools for a total of $25,000 in prize money. Sponsoring firm KPMG will be the host site for Finals. Presentations have traditionally been held in the late afternoon starting at 3:00 pm. Further details to be circulated to participating teams. Thursday, April 15. The winning team not only gets bragging rights, but also a cash prize of $50,000. Drexel will be one of 64 to compete for a trip to Bentonville, Arkansas to present at Walmart headquarters, and a grand prize of $20,000. This could include preserving clean air, water, and soil; reducing waste; improving energy efficiency or developing renewable energy ideas; and promoting healthy living for people and communities. The driving force is pragmatism: helping MBA students move from the dorm room to the board room, bringing new businesses to life. Emerging industries such as information technology, biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology, telecommunications and others provide unique, high-return opportunities for young entrepreneurs and investors. Entrepreneurship. A Capital idea. An important objective of any plan for a new business is to raise capital. MBA students with entrepreneurial aspirations and a compelling business plan will find a receptive audience at the McGinnis Venture Competition. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with our judges, who are venture capitalists, successful entrepreneurs and leading entrepreneurial educators. The competition will serve as an early reality check, pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of every plan. In each track, the winning team's startup company will receive a first prize of $20,000 as an investment in the firm. The winner of each track will have in-kind prizes for intellectual property and other legal services. Also, the Donald H. Jones faculty will provide advisory services for first-place winners. Qualifications: To participate entrants must submit a comprehensive business plan with a core intellectual property (IP) licensing component. Entries are evaluated by seasoned industry professionals, who provide valuable feedback to each team. Entries are judged on a variety of factors including attractiveness of the venture, quality of the product/service offered, market opportunity and investment potential. Boston Finals: Finalist teams receive all-expenses paid trips to compete in Boston and attend the 2010 LES Spring Meeting. This includes transportation, hotel and meeting registration costs for student members and a faculty advisor (up to 3 individuals per team). | Description: | NEELEY MBA SALES & MARKETING STRATEGY COMPETITION MARCH 2010 Full-time MBA students from across the country will compete in the first annual Neeley Sales & Marketing Strategy Competition sponsored by Sony Electronics. Cash prizes total $12,000. Schools represented to date are: Harvard, Emory, Tulane, Pepperdine, Rice, Chicago, Georgia Tech, Ohio, Thunderbird, UC Berkeley, Texas A&M, Rochester, Indiana, Baylor and TCU. Interested MBA students can register until March 12 at www.neeleyMBAbusinesscase.com. The MBA students will work together on randomly assigned teams of four, each from a different school. Senior Sony sales and marketing executives will participate as judges. “This is a valuable opportunity for MBA students to gain direct experience with and invaluable insight into a major global retailer, Sony Electronics,” said Ed Riefenstahl, Director of Experiential Learning at the Neeley School. “We are privileged to have a company as successful and well-known as Sony as a sponsor for our case competition.” Senior Sony sales and marketing executives will participate in the competition as judges, as well as conduct interviews with those interested in careers at the electronics giant. The two-day event begins with an on-campus welcome dinner and reception in the evening, where the teams will be chosen. The case competition takes place March 2010, at the Neeley School. Students will be given a marketing and strategy case involving a Sony product. Each team will have five hours to work on the case and 10 minutes to present their recommendations to Sony executives. Winners will be announced at an awards dinner. Prizes are $6,000 for Grand Prize, $4,000 for second and $2,000 for third. A prize will also be awarded for Most Creative Solution. Eligibility Participants must be enrolled in a United States (or North American) Business School and be at least 21 years of age to participate. The competition is open to all full-time 1st year, 2nd year and Accelerated one-year MBAs only. Each school is limited to 5 MBA participants.
