Seth Gladfelter ‘09 was named a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning designer at Barton Education, a provider of mechanical, electrical and plumbing system design services for health are and education. His new responsibilities will include design calculations and layouts.

Karla McKee ‘09 has been elected president of Beta Gamma Sigma San Francisco Area Alumni Chapter. Beta Gamma Sigma members have earned lifetime recognition for exemplary achievements in business academics.

David Batty ‘06 joined Coldwell Banker Preferred in the company’s Wayne, Pa., office. He has been actively investing in real estate with his father and has rehabbed many properties in the last few years. Mr. Batty is also the advisor for undergraduates in Pi Kappa Alpha and a member of the Fern Wood Lodge.

Edwin Sanchez ‘99 was appointed president and chief executive officer of RiverTrust Solutions Inc., a contractor for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in Chattanooga, Tenn. Mr. Sanchez previously served as chief operating officer of RiverTrust.

Kim Cartwright ‘94 was accepted to The Betsy Magness Leadership Institute (BMLI) Fellows program. The fellows participate in a yearlong educational program which provides direct feedback, personal development, and industry involvement. Ms. Cartwright is senior director, content acquisition, Comcast Cable Communications, LLC, in Philadelphia.

Daniel K. Fitzpatrick ‘93, CPA, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Mr. Fitzpatrick is President and CEO of Citizen’s Bank for Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. He also serves on Citizens Financial Group’s Executive Leadership Group, the company’s senior leadership team.

Vernon Keesey ‘93 has joined Meridian Bank as vice president in its newly formed investment and wealth management division, Meridian Financial Services. At Meridian, Mr. Keesey’s responsibilities include designing and implementing customized investment portfolios, evaluating and recommending individual life, disability, health and long-term care insurance options, and identifying cost effective group retirement and benefit plans for small businesses.

Kenneth T. Joyce ‘89 will become the CEO of Amkor Technology in October. Mr. Joyce has been with Amkor since 1997 and has spent more than eight years as the company’s Chief Financial Officer before becoming CAO in 2007 and COO in 2008. Amkor is a leading provider of semiconductor assembly and test services located in Chandler, Arizona.

Todd M. Abrams ‘88 has been appointed senior vice president/managing director of CNB Bank. In this role, Mr. Abrams has overall responsibility for the supervision of the Wealth Management Group of CNB Bank, including wealth and asset management, trust administration, business development, estate planning and administration of overall trust operations.

Lizzie Rosso ‘85, CPA, CTP, president of the Economic Development Bank (EDB) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was featured in an article, “Lizzie Rosso: Small Businesses are the Heart of the Island’s Economy,” that was published in Caribbean Business. Governor Luis Fortuño selected Ms. Rosso to head the EDB in January 2009. Previously, Ms. Rosso served as senior vice president of Consumer Banking at Doral Bank. She was part of the team assembled by Doral Financial Corp. President Glen Wakeman to turn the bank around after confronting serious financial problems in 2006.

Peter Nolan ‘83, ‘89 was a finalist in the “2009 CFO of the Year” in the “Medium Company” category sponsored by the Philadelphia Business Journal in conjunction with Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. Mr. Nolan is the executive vice president and CFO of Firstrust Bank.

Julia Amadio ‘80 has joined Meadwestvaco (MWV) Corporation as vice president of global marketing for MWV health care. In her role, Ms. Amadio will oversee marketing and commercialization for MWV’s growing portfolio of over the counter and pharmaceutical packaging solutions, including MWV’s successful adherence and compliance product lines. She will also be responsible for driving growth opportunities in emerging global pharmaceutical markets like India and China.

Anita Conner ‘79 was the keynote speaker at the Eighth Annual Enterprising Woman Business Plan Competition Awards Ceremony held at Philadelphia University. Ms. Conner is the founder, president and CEO of Anita T. Conner & Associates.

Joseph M. Lario, III ‘78, CPA, was named “2009 CFO of the Year” in the “Health Care Nonprofit” category by the Philadelphia Business Journal in conjunction with Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. Mr. Lario is the vice president and chief financial officer of Kennedy Health System.

Wayne Gattinella ‘76, president, CEO and director of WebMD, was featured in an article, “Gattinella: An Online Empire Builder,” in the June issue of Medical Marketing and Media, a monthly business publication serving healthcare marketers.

Ed Pierami ‘72, president and owner of Jan-Pro Cleaning Systems of Memphis, was profiled in the Memphis Business Journal. Mr. Pierami started Jan-Pro of Memphis in August 1998. The company is a franchise of Jan- Pro International, a commercial cleaning company. Jan-Pro has been ranked as the fastest growing franchise company in the world for 2008 and 2009 by Entrepreneur magazine.

Kate Wendleton ‘70, ‘75 wrote an article, “Disarming the Firing Squad,” that was published in Chemical Engineering Progress. Ms. Wendleton is president and founder of The Five O’Clock Club, a national career counseling organization that serves professionals, managers and executives by offering services directly to individuals as well as outplacement via the corporate market.

Thomas Masci, Jr., ‘68, CPA, was named “2009 CFO of the Year” in the “Medium Company” category by the Philadelphia Business Journal in conjunction with Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business. Mr. Masci is one of five individuals who co- founded Health Advocate, Inc., a health-care assistance and advocacy company.
