Carl Hertrich '71 Named Recipient of 2012 LeBow College Alumni Award

June 04, 2012

Carl Hertrich '71, retired audit partner at KPMG LLP, has been named the winner of Drexel LeBow's 2012 Alumni Award.

The Recognition and Awards Committee of the LeBow Alumni Council selected Hertrich from the many high quality nominations they received based upon factors including his professional accomplishments, contributions to his field, and service and commitment to LeBow College of Business.

Hertrich joined the accounting faculty at LeBow College in September 2008 after completing a 36-year career with KPMG, where he worked in the firm’s offices located in Philadelphia, Paris, and Wilmington, Del. He served as the managing partner of the Wilmington office for 11 years before returning to the Philadelphia office, where he began his career after graduating from Drexel in 1971. In 2005, he was selected to serve on KPMG’s Partnership Council.

Hertrich is the treasurer and a member of the board of trustees of Archmere Academy in Claymont, Del., and he also serves as the chairman of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Delaware Chapter. He is also a member of the Parish Finance Council of St. Mary Magdalen Church.

Jennifer Wright, associate clinical professor of accounting, nominated Hertrich for the award. "Carl has always given back to the University by hiring co-ops, mentoring students, doing classroom presentations, as a member of the advisory board and his many, many other activities,” she says. “He has always been a cheerleader for the University and its students and programs."

Hertrich was recognized at an awards ceremony held during alumni weekend last month.
