Who Can Enter
The 2019 Drexel University LeBow College of Business Diversity & Inclusion Case Competition is open to 18 eligible teams from Drexel University and participating local universities and colleges, including, but not limited to: Temple University, University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph’s University, LaSalle University, Drexel University and Villanova.
Selected “Participating Universities” must submit the required online application and registration form on or before Tuesday, October 8 at midnight to be selected to compete.
Only teams who have completed the application/registration process will be considered for selection to participate in the competition. A total of 18 teams, with the sole discretion of Drexel University, will ultimately be selected to compete.
Employees (and their immediate families [spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses]) and those living in the same household of each employee, whether or not related) of Drexel University and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and all others associated with the development, administration, organization and execution of the Competition are eligible to participate, however, they will not be eligible for a monetary award.
The Competition is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. An eligible team member who is a minor in his/her state of residence should have his or her parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to enter. Void in Puerto Rico, the U.S. territories and possessions and where prohibited.
How To Enter
Each team member must register online by submitting an application and resume on or before Tuesday, October 8 at midnight ET. Only teams who have completed the application/registration process will be considered for selection to participate in the competition. A total of 18 teams, with the sole discretion of Drexel University, will ultimately be selected to compete.LeBow will notify the first 18 eligible teams of their selection to participate in the Competition by email on or before October 11, 2019. Teams will prepare a 10 minute presentation addressing how they would respond to and handle the case study. Teams will present their presentations at the Competition on November 9, 2019 beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET at Gerri C. LeBow Hall, Grand Meeting Room and Terrace, 3220 Market Street, Rm. 220, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Teams will prepare for a 5 minute Question and Answer session following their presentations. Dress for the presentations is business professional. LeBow will host a networking reception following the Competition.
Presentations must: (i) represent the entrant’s own work and cannot be plagiarized work or work belonging to a third party, (ii) must be in keeping with LeBow and Sponsor’s image and may not be offensive or inappropriate as determined by LeBow and Sponsor in their sole discretion, and (iii) cannot defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal property rights or any third party rights. LeBow and Sponsor reserve the right to disqualify any presentation deemed to be offensive, inappropriate or not in keeping with Sponsor’s or LeBow’s image, in their sole discretion. All entries, presentations and submissions become the property of Sponsor and LeBow.
Released Parties (Drexel University, Drexel University LeBow College of Business, Sponsors, and Affiliates) are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, inaccurate, garbled, damaged, ineligible, undelivered, delayed, misdirected, or postage due on entries or submissions or presentations; for unavailable, interrupted, network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections; for lack of availability, accessibility, or miscommunications due to failed computer, satellite, telephone, or cable transmissions or lines; for technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected transmissions or presentations; for computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties; or for any other computer, network, technical, typographical, human or other error, problem, or malfunctions related to the Competition or entry into or eligibility for the Competition or any related materials.
A panel of judges comprised of LeBow faculty and staff and executives will select a first place winner, a second place winner and a third place winner among the eligible teams. Judges will select the first place, second place and third place winners based upon the evaluation criteria including but not limited to the following: Strategic Decision Making, Collaboration and Teamwork, Effective Communication and Practical Learning. The Judges reserve the right not to award prizes should they deem that submissions do not meet the Competition criteria. The decisions of the judges are final and binding.
The first place winning team will receive $2,000 which will be divided equally among the team members. The second place winning team will receive $100 which will be divided equally among the team members. The third place winning team will receive $500 which will be divided equally among the team members. The first, second and third Place winning teams will be announced at the conclusion of the Presentations on November 9, 2019 and will be posted on LeBow’s website on or after November 19, 2019. Total ARV of all prizes and awards combined: $3,500.
General Prize and Award Restrictions
Any and all federal, state and local taxes, where applicable are the sole responsibility of the winning team members and award recipients. No cash equivalents, substitutions, transfer or assignments of prizes or awards are allowed, except by Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize or award (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value, at its sole discretion.
Winning teams will be notified verbally at the conclusion of the Presentations on November 9, 2019 at the Gerri C. LeBow Hall. If any winning team member is an eligible minor, then his/her pro rata portion of the award will be awarded to his/her parent or legal guardian who will be required to fulfill all requirements imposed on winners set forth herein. If a team or team member chooses to decline an award for any reason or fails to abide by these Official Rules, then the prize may be forfeited. If any potential winner fails to comply with all the requirements set forth in these Official Rules, Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify such potential winner. By accepting an award, each winner grants to LeBow, to Sponsor and to their designee(s) the right to use his or her name, likeness, biographical information, university attended and presentation for purposes of advertising and promotional purposes in any and all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity without further notice, permission or compensation, except where prohibited by law.
Use of Application/Registration Form and Presentation
By submitting an application, each team and each team member agrees that Sponsors shall own the Presentation (including all rights embodied therein) and that its designees may edit, publish, use, adapt, modify or dispose of any Presentation or portion therein, online, in print, or in any other media now or hereafter known for advertising, promotional, or other purposes throughout the world, in perpetuity, without additional compensation or notification to or permission of the team or team members except as prohibited by law.
By submitting an application, teams and team members agree to release and hold harmless LeBow and Vanguard and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and all others associated with the development and execution of this Competition and their respective officers, directors, shareholders, agents and employees (collectively the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, injuries, damages or losses to the person or property and/or liabilities of any nature that in any way arise from participation in this Competition or acceptance or use of a prize. In the event that the Competition is compromised by non-authorized human intervention, bugs, virus or other causes beyond the control of LeBow or Sponsor which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the Competition, LeBow or Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify, suspend or terminate the Competition or any portion thereof and/or terminate the participation of any team or team member whose conduct potentially compromises the Competition.
The first, second and third place winning teams will also be listed on LeBow’s website after November 19, 2019.
