A Model of Amazonian Deforestation
Abstract We estimate a structural dynamic model of Amazonian deforestation using satellite sensor data. Using this model, we measure the impact of the 2008 Brazilian policy changes on deforestation; we quantify the sensitivity of deforestation rates to changes in commodity prices; and we use the results to predict the potential impact of further policy interventions.
