Information Session Tagging

This guide should explain in deteail how Information Session events should be created and tagged.

Overview

When and where events will show up on the website is largely driven by how they are tagged. As such it is important to understand the ramifications of tagging and how certain options will affect the event.

General Setup

Featuring Events on "Splash" pages

To feature an event on any program splash page and to have it "rise to the top" on the landing pages it should be marked as "Promoted to Front Page" in the publishing settings of the event.

External Registration Events

Events such as webinars that have registration on another site should have the signups turned off and should provide a link directly to the event, not to the list of events

Short Description

A short description should be provided for search engine results and also calling this out on other pages on our site. One sentence should suffice. Think tweet!

Body Text

The shouldn't repeat information that is otherwise available on the event page. For example, a contact person and address of the event shouldn't be listed in the body of the event as this information is availble via the point of contact and location settings of that event. Duplicating this information not only looks sloppy but it increases the chances for inconsistencies and detracts from the details of the event.

Tagging

The three most important tagging vocabularies are "Program" and "Location". However, the "Academic Departments" vocabulary is also used for adding these events to departmental pages. When finding events that are more like this and for displaying events on delivery option pages these two values are taken into account. For example, on the Drexel LeBow MBA Malvern Delivery page, events that are tagged with a program of: Graduate, MBA, and Drexel LeBow MBA AND the location of: Malvern will be displayed.

The Programs vocabulary has this basic structure

  • Programs
    • Graduate
      • MBA
        • Drexel LeBow MBA
        • Executive EMBA
        • ...
      • Masters
        • MS in Accounting
        • ....

At the very least all MBA information sessions should be tagged "Graduate" and "MBA". After that, all programs that are being specifically targeted should be added as tags.

The Locations vocabulary is used to track the location that the event is taking place including online. The location where the event is taking place should be checked.

In addition, for landing pages the "Academic Communities" vocabulary is also used to distinguish between full-time and part-time.

Example Scenarios

Below are some common event types and how they should be set up.

General MBA Information Sessions

These are the monthly "All Program" information sessions. We consider this as information sessions for ALL programs including all MS programs but excluding Executive MBA.

Program Terms:

  • Graduate

MBA

  • Drexel LeBow MBA
  • Healthcare MBA
  • Masters (and all "sub-programs")

Location Terms:

  • Location of Event (usually philadelphia)

Academic Departments (So these will show on Accounting and Finance) pages

  • Accounting
  • Finance

Online MBA Webinars

All "info sessions" that will take place online should be referred to as "webinars". This should avoid confusion regarding the delivery of the program and the delivery of the information session.

External Registration link should be set to the registration page of the Information Session and not that of the Information Session List
