Case analysis is a unique way of learning in business school. But reading a business case is not like reading a great work of literature. Preparing a case analysis for class discussion requires a different set of skills. In this session, we will review how to read a case, apply these skills to a typical Harvard Business School Case, and then participate in a class discussion of the case. Participants will be assigned a Harvard Business School Case (see below) before the class and should read the case prior to the class. In other words, before class read the case as if it were a novel or a blog.

Instructions for purchasing the Harvard Business School Case: Students can buy the case at: https://hbsp.harvard.edu/import/563973. You will need to set up an account at Harvard Business School Publishing, but you will also need an account for future classes as well. The case costs $4.25 each.
