TEDx LeBow: Eight Minutes and 46 Seconds
This event is part of the 8 Minutes and 46 Seconds series.
Location:
8 minutes and 46 seconds: the length of time that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin ground his knee into George Floyd’s neck, preventing him from breathing despite his pleas of “I can’t breathe.” It is also the length of time we invite LeBow faculty, staff, students and alumni to speak their truth regarding the systemic injustice affecting the Black community.
In those 8 minutes, George Floyd was able to speak those powerful words: “I CAN’T BREATHE.” What is your “I CAN’T” statement? “I CAN’T take it anymore… I CAN’T believe this is happening again… I CAN’T stop fighting this fight… I CAN’T believe that I have to have this conversation with my children…”
