Registration for this event has passed.

The Graduate Technical Series is a training series that is offered to graduate students in the MBA and MS Programs at the LeBow College of Business.

This session will be held virtually via Zoom and the materials and Zoom link will be provided a day or two before the event to registered participants.

Tableau is business intelligence/data visualization software. It’s increasingly used in a variety of industries including those related to public policy and public administration, like nonprofits and the government, as well as by corporations.

The major advantage of Tableau over a program like Excel, which can also make graphs, is that Tableau lets you build graphics that are connected to each other and that users can interact with. The major advantage of Tableau over programming languages is that, even without a programming background, you can quickly get up to speed and be producing useful presentations in Tableau.

Topics will include (but not limited to):

  • Connecting to Data
  • Visual Analytics
  • Calculations
  • Mapping
  • Dashboards and Stories

This two hour session is intended for those who are new Tableau. No background in data analysis or programming is necessary. We work will real world data that will be provided before the start of the session.

Prior to the session, students should have an installed and running application of Tableau Desktop on a PC or Mac on their personal laptops.

Requirements: Tableau (2020.1 or higher)

Students can get Tableau for free and find more details at the link below (please do so a few days before the event):
