The Graduate Technical Series is a training series that is offered to graduate students in the MBA and MS Programs at the LeBow College of Business.

This session will be held virtually via Zoom, and the materials and Zoom link will be provided a day or two before the event to registered participants.

Tableau is a business intelligence/data visualization software. It’s increasingly used in a variety of industries including those related to public policy and public administration, like nonprofits and the government, as well as corporations.

The major advantage of Tableau over a program like Excel, which can also make graphs, is that Tableau lets you build graphics that are connected to each other and that users can interact with. The major advantage of Tableau over programming languages is that even without a programming background, you can quickly get up-to-speed and produce useful presentations in Tableau.

Topics will include (but not limited to):

  • Building more advanced charts and visualizations
  • Creating complex calculations
  • Utilizing statistical techniques
  • Implementing geographic mapping functionalities

This two-hour session is intended for those who are already familiar with Tableau. Attending the “Introduction to Tableau” Session (held a week before this) or having a basic understanding of Tableau is strongly recommended before attending this session.

Prior to the session, students should have an installed and running application of Tableau Desktop (PC or Mac).

Requirements: Tableau (2020.3 or higher)

Students can get Tableau for free and find more details at the link below:
