The 2017 Bridging Practice and Theory Summit took place on Thursday, May 18, 2017. The annual event partnered with the Business Analytics Solutions Center to foster the continuing development of the Business Analytics field and focused on expanding links between research in the field and its implementation in practice. Through interactive sessions that highlighted current and relevant business trends in analytics, BPTS promoted collaboration between academia and industry.
Chief Data Officer and Chief Model Risk Officer, Capital One
Hallworth joined Capital One in August 2011 as Senior Vice President and Chief Model Risk Officer, responsible for leading model risk management across the enterprise and for Capital One’s Enterprise Analytic R&D function. In March 2014, he was also named Chief Data Officer, a capacity in which he ensures a consistent, well-managed position on data quality for the organization. Hallworth is heavily focused on the continued development of Data Scientists, Quant, and Data Analyst communities across the company. Prior to joining Capital One, he was most recently Chief Actuary for Travelers Insurance, where he led the company’s advanced analytics, modeling, data and business intelligence initiatives.
Broken into three major sessions, the 2017 BPTS Summit focused on six essential themes: operational analytics, project management in analytics, analytics strategies, business process analytics, financial analytics, and aligning strategy and analytics. These areas were selected as key areas where academics and industry could share ideas in the world of business analytics.
The 2018 Bridging Practice and Theory Summit will take place Thursday, February 15, 2018.
