SUMMARY:Undergraduate Datathon
DESCRIPTION: \n\nThe Datathon is a high energy\, 7-hour event that brings t
 ogether teams\nof students in LeBow’s Undergraduate Business Analytics p
 rogram to\nturn data into actionable information. During this event\, stud
 ent\nteams work on analytics projects using a real-world dataset. The\ndat
 aset will be provided at the Datathon.\n\nFor the duration of the event\, 
 students have the opportunity to\nmeticulously turn the business problem i
 nto a series of statistical\nquestions\, design a technical approach\, and
  use data analysis and data\ntechnology skills to create solutions that so
 lve the statistical\nproblem at hand. Ultimately\, teams turn their quanti
 tative solutions\nto actionable\, qualitative insights. Projects may inclu
 de\, but are not\nlimited to correlation analysis\, regression analysis\, 
 optimization\nsystems\, and data mining analysis.\n\nAt the conclusion of 
 the 7-hour time period\, teams present their\nprojects to a panel of judge
 s\, outlining the data-driven insights for\ntheir business problem\, the s
 cope of their analysis\, technical\nchallenges\, overall solutions\, imple
 mentation plan\, and expected\nimpact on the bottom line.\n\nStudents use 
 their own laptops and are given access to a computer lab\nwith software ap
 plications such as SAS\, R\, and Excel. Breakfast and\nlunch will be provi
 ded.\n\nStudents in the top three winning teams\, as determined by the jud
 ges\,\nreceive Amazon.com gift cards.\n\nSchedule:\n\n9am – 10am: Regist
 ration\, teams setup\, rules and processes\, light\nbreakfast\, dataset sh
 aring 10am – 12pm: Teams will work on the\ndataset 12pm – 1pm: Lunch b
 reak 1pm – 4pm: Teams continue working\non the dataset 4pm – 5:30pm: P
 resentations\, judging\, and winners\nannouncement\n\nPrior to the event t
 here will be a Datathon Prep Workshop. The\nworkshop is a review of the ba
 sic analytics process\, and analytical\nconcepts\, using a live business p
 roblem. While attendance to this\nworkshop is encouraged\, it is not manda
 tory. The workshop will be held\non Friday\, April 14th\, 5:30pm-7:30pm in
