DESCRIPTION: \n\nKarin S. Thorburn is the Research Chair Professor of Finan
 ce at the\nNorwegian School of Economics and a Visiting Professor at The W
 harton\nSchool of University of Pennsylvania. She was previously a faculty
 \nmember at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Her\nresearc
 h\, which focuses on corporate governance\, takeovers\,\nbankruptcy\, and 
 raising capital\, is regularly published in the top\nacademic journals. Th
 orburn is affiliated with the Center for Economic\nPolicy Research (CEPR) 
 and the European Corporate Governance Institute\n(ECGI). She is a councilo
 r of the Society of Financial Studies and was\na director of the Executive
  Committee of the European Finance\nAssociation\, 2014-2016. In 2016\, Tho
 rburn served on a committee\nappointed by the Norwegian government to asse
 ss the equity portion of\nthe $900 billion Government Pension Fund Global.
  She serves as a\ndirector of several corporate and bank boards in Sweden
