Jones Graduate School of Business\, Rice University. He earned\nhis PhD in accounting from the University of North Carolina in 20 03.\nHe also holds a bachelors degree (summa cum laude) in accounting from \nBabson College and was valedictorian of his graduating class. Brian\njoi ned the Rice faculty in 2003. He has taught accounting courses\nacross all MBA programs at the Jones School and has been the recipient\nof multiple teaching awards. His research focuses on the influence of\nexternal forces on the financial reporting choices and characteristics\nof firms. Brian ’s research has been published in top academic\njournals including The A ccounting Review\, Journal of Accounting &\nEconomics\, Journal of Financi al Economics\, Journal of Business\,\nFinance\, and Accounting\, and the J ournal of Financial & Quantitative\nAnalysis. He serves as an editor at th e Journal of Business\, Finance\,\nand Accounting and is on the Editorial Advisory and Review Board of\nThe Accounting Review. Brian is an active me mber of the American\nAccounting Association\, speaking regularly at the a nnual and mid-year\nmeetings\, as well as helping to coordinate the resear ch sessions. He\nhas also presented his research at over 30 international institutions\nacross 7 different countries.
