DESCRIPTION: \n\nIn recent weeks\, athletes and sport leagues around the co
 untry have\nbeen embroiled in controversy after athlete protests focusing 
 on\nracial injustice were characterized as unpatriotic. These events\nremi
 nd us that sport as a social institution has the power to reflect\nthe ten
 or of the time as well as serve as a platform to promote social\nchange. I
 n this program we seek to engage members of the Drexel\ncommunity and beyo
 nd in a conversation about race and sport\, exploring\nhow these events ar
 e situated within a larger national dialogue\, how\nwe engage each other i
 n thoughtful discussion\, and what we can learn\nfrom each other moving fo
 rward.\n\nThe panelist will include one of the nation’s leading thinkers
  on\nthis topic\, Kevin Blackistone\, known for his work on ESPN’s Aroun
 d\nthe Horn\, Washington Post\, NPR\, and his teaching in the Medill Schoo
 l\nof Journalism at the University of Maryland\; Ivan Soto\, the Executive
 \nDirector of the Arena Football League Players Association\; and Patrick\
 nHruby\, Washington\, DC-based writer\, editor\, and journalist who\nspeci
 alizes in the intersection of sports and social issues.\n\n_LeBow College
