We suggest that permeability of the boun dary between status\ngroups depends on (1) individual status in a professi onal community\;\nand (2) physical distance between status-distant organiz ations.\nAnalysis of co-authorship tie formation in academic accounting ov er a\n30-year period indicates that faculty members from two status-distan t\nacademic departments were more likely to form a co-authorship tie if\nt he person from the lower-status department was highly productive\, or\nthe two status-distant departments were physically far apart. These\nfindings are consistent with our argument that individual status\nreduces anxiety/ uncertainty over crossing organizational status\nboundary\, and that physi cal proximity not only heightens the salience\nof organizational status bo undaries but also provides more interaction\nopportunities for people from status-similar departments to reinforce\norganizational status boundary.\ n\nRead more information on Dr. Ma\n[https://www.lebow.drexel.edu/people/d alima].\n DTSTART:20180420T143000Z DTEND:20180420T155000Z LOCATION:Gerri C.
