Rust\, University of Maryland DESCRIPTION: \n\nThe Feeling Economy: MANAGING IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF AI \n\nThe first generation of AI has focused primarily on replacing human\nt asks that are physical\, mechanical\, or repetitive. This has resulted\nin an economy (the Thinking Economy) in which the most successful\nhuman wor kers emphasize cognitive skills\, and physical workers\, such\nas farmers and factory workers\, are mostly left behind. Conventional\nwisdom current ly assumes that workers can protect themselves from\nobsolescence by makin g themselves more analytical. This may not be the\ncase. The second genera tion of AI\, focusing on analytical thinking and\neven intuition\, is quic kly mastering an increasing number of cognitive\ntasks. This is causing hu man workers to emphasize feeling tasks to a\ngreater degree. We describe t he changes that managers will have to\nmake to cope with this.\n\nRoland T .
