This competition is an\nopportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of the \naccounting process\, system of internal controls and the COSO framework\ nfor internal controls. It is also an opportunity to refine\npresentation skills and network with alumni and local professionals\nwho serve as the c oaches and judges.\n\nKICKOFF EVENT\n\nThere is a mandatory kickoff event that all registrants must attend to\nmeet their teammates and get the case materials on Monday\, February\n18th from 4:30-5:30 pm. Check the events calendar for registration and\nfurther details.\n\nDAY OF THE COMPETITION\ n\nRegistration will take place from 8-8:30am. Participants will have a\nc hance to enjoy a continental breakfast and get to know team members\nand m eet their coaches. The program will begin at 8:30am with a guest\nspeaker who will provide vital information for the case.\n\nEach team will have 3. 5 hours (9am -12:30pm) to review the case and\ncritical information just p rovided\, formulate their response to the\ncase questions and develop a Po werPoint based presentation. A box\nlunch will be provided at noon so team s may continue to work on their\npresentations. Each team must submit an e lectronic copy of their\npresentation by 12:30pm. No changes may be made t o teams’ PowerPoint\npresentations after the 12:30pm submission deadline .\n\nTeams will be randomly assigned a 15 minute slot with one of our two\ npanels of judges to present their results. Team presentations will be\nin 20 minute intervals to allow transitions between 1:00 and 3:30. The\ntop six teams will be announced at the conclusion of the first round\nof judgi ng. Immediately following this we will release the rest of the\ngroup and the top six teams will again be randomly assigned for the\nfinal round of judging. Awards will be presented as soon as the judges\nhave reached a de cision.\n\nKEY DATES\n\n * Registration Deadline: February 11\, 2019\, 11: 59 pm\n * Kick-off Event: February 18\, 2019\, 4:30-5:30 pm\n * Competitio n Date: February 22\, 2019\, 8 am-4:30 pm\n\nTEAM STRUCTURE\n\nTeams will be assigned by the accounting department and align with the\nbelow require ments:\n\n * 4 students per team\n * at least 1 Accounting Major\, 1 upper classman or MS student\, and 1\nunder classman per team\n * a limit of 15 case teams\, so the first 60 eligible students who\nsign up and are assig ned to teams will receive one of the available\nspots.\n\nTEAM PRIZES\n\n * 1st Place - $1500 ($375 per each team member)\n * 2nd Place - $1000 ($25 0 per each team member)\n * 3rd Place - $800 ($200 per each team member)\n * 4th Place - $600 ($150 per each team member)\n * 5th Place - $400 ($100 per each team member)\n * 6th Place - $200 ($50 per each team member)\n\n REGISTRATION AND REQUIREMENTS\n\nDue to the nature of the competition\, pa rticipation is limited\; not\nevery application will be accepted into the competition.\n\nYou will be notified if you have been accepted into the co mpetition no\nlater than February 14\, 2019.\n\nTo register please complet e the registration form.
