To address this\ nquestion\, I will focus on two channels through which leaders shape\nindi vidual\, group\, and organizational performance. To demonstrate the\nfirst channel\, I will present several studies that highlight how\nleaders of o rganizations (e.g.\, CEOs) shape organizational processes\n(e.g.\, organiz ational culture) and outcomes (e.g.\, financial indices).\nTo demonstrate the second channel\, I will offer another set of studies\nthat focus on th e role that leaders play in facilitating outcomes by\nsynchronizing follow ers’ behaviors as well as their physiological\nand neurological signatur es. I will discuss how by integrating micro\nand macro processes and by re lying on diverse methodologies\, my work\nextends theory and offers new in sights about effective leadership.\n\nProfessor Berson’s research helps demonstrate the effects of\norganizational leadership\, in particular\, vi sionary leadership\, on\nmultiple organizational phenomena including organ izational learning\,\ninnovation and change. Specifically\, he has conduct ed research on the\ncontent of leaders’ vision and the extent to which v isionary leaders\ninfluence groups. In other works\, he has examined impli cations of\nindividual differences in personality and values for employee and\norganizational outcomes.
