During the event\, stude nt teams tackle analytics\nchallenges using open-source datasets.\n\nIn pr eparation for the datathon\, undergraduate students will form\nteams of 5- 7 members. For the duration of the event\, students are\ntasked with turni ng a business problem into a series of statistical\nquestions\, designing a technical approach\, and using data analysis and\ntechnology skills to d evelop solutions to solve the problem.\n\nAt the conclusion of the event\, teams present their insights to a\npanel of industry and faculty judges\, outlining their data-driven\ninsights related to the business problem\, t he scope of their analysis\,\ntechnical challenges\, overall solutions\, i mplementation plan\, and\nexpected impact.\n\nStudents use their own lapto ps and are provided access to a computer\nlab with software applications. Dr. Murugan Anandarajan\, Professor\,\nDecision Sciences and MIS\, will se rve as the faculty advisor\noverseeing the challenge.\n\nMeals and refresh ments will be provided to participants.\n\nPARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY\n\nTo b e eligible to participate\, team members must be currently-enrolled\nunder graduate students proficient in core techniques for business\nanalytics\, such as data mining and statistical modeling.\n\nDATATHON CHALLENGE\n\nSum mary and specifics of the datathon challenge are forthcoming.\n\nREGISTRAT ION\n\nTo participate in the Datathon\, all students must register by Frid ay\,\nApril 5.\n\nDRAFT OF EVENT TIMELINE\n\nTimeline is tentative and sub ject to change.\n\nSaturday\, April 13\, 2019 8:30 am: Team check-in\; bre akfast available\n_All team members must be present and checked in prior t o the event\nkick-off at 9 am.
