We predict that status distan ce can\novercome categorical barriers to interpersonal tie formation in\nc ontexts where innovation and identity distinction are both important.\nIn support for our proposition\, analysis of music collaboration in the\ncomm ercial music industry (2000-2015) shows that the negative effect\nof categ orical (genre) distance on the likelihood of collaboration\nbetween the ma in and featured artists was weaker if the main artist\nhad greater “stat us surplus” over the featured artist. In\naddition\, the positive intera ction of categorical and status distances\nwas stronger if the main artist ’s status was less volatile\, which\nunderlines the importance of the ro bustness of status-based identity.\nFor more information of Dr. Ma\, click here\n[https://www.lebow.drexel.edu/people/dalima]\n DTSTART:20190215T153000Z DTEND:20190215T165000Z LOCATION:Gerri C.
