The club owes its conception to a\nwalking club: The Outing Club.\n\nThe club was formed as a perpetual body for the promotion of literacy\,\nmusical and artistic tastes for social enjoyments and such other\nkindred purposes as the club may from time to time determine.\n\nAt its inception the club had eight c harter members. Located at 1519\nLocust Street\, its residence for over 50 years\, the Club provides a\ngracious and welcoming environment in Center City Philadelphia. The\nfirst meeting room was a house on Pine Street and the first clubhouse\nwas located at 1504 Walnut Street. Architect Sydney Martin designed\nthe present clubhouse built in 1956. “Vues d’Amerique Du Nord”\n(Scenes of North America) produced by Jean Zuber et Cie\, ado rns the\nfirst floor foyer and the rest of the clubhouse is beautifully\nd ecorated with art acquired over the past 100 years.\n\nFounders of The Aco rn Club felt confident that the club would continue\nto grow and develop w ith the times. The younger generations have\nfulfilled the founders’ vis ion for the club and continue to develop\nits culture and personality.\n DTSTART:20190515T214500Z DTEND:20190516T000000Z LOCATION:Acorn Club\, 1519 Locust St.\, Philadelphia\, PA 19102 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
