Our model proposes that such teams face a unique\nchallenge—an initial asymmetry in feelings of psychological\nownership for the idea bet ween the creative lead who conceived the\nidea and new team members who ar e beginning to work on the idea. We\nsuggest that the creative lead can re solve this asymmetry and foster\nthe emergence of collective psychological ownership by enacting two\ninterpersonal behaviors—help seeking and ter ritorial marking. These\nbehaviors build collective ownership by facilitat ing the unifying\,\ncentripetal force of team identification and preventin g the divisive\,\ncentrifugal force of team ownership conflict. Our model also proposes\nthat collective ownership positively relates to the early s uccess of\nnew creative teams. The results of a quantitative study of 79 c reative\nteams participating in an entrepreneurship competition provided\n general support for our predictions\, but also suggested refinements as\nt o how a creative lead’s behavior influences team dynamics. The\nfindings of a subsequent qualitative investigation of 27 teams\nparticipating in a university startup launch course shed additional\nlight on how collective ownership emerges in new creative teams\nlaunched to advance one person ’s idea.\n\nread more information\n[https://olin.wustl.edu/EN-US/Faculty -Research/Faculty/Pages/FacultyDetail.aspx?username=knightap]\non Dr. Knig ht.\n DTSTART:20190412T143000Z DTEND:20190412T155000Z LOCATION:Gerri C.
