Th is\npresentation outlines our methods for (1) measuring the impact of\ndif ferent types of information on individuals and (2) analyzing the\ninfluenc e of personal values and socio-cultural contexts on everyday\ninteractions and communication. Our projects leverage natural language\nprocessing\, m achine learning and social network analysis within the\nfield of computati onal social science to investigate user-generated\ntexts (e.g.\, social me dia and customer reviews) and professionally\ngenerated texts (e.g.\, scho larly publications and organizational\ndocuments). By examining diverse so cial contexts and language aspects\,\nwe can develop computational models that are more socially aware and\nhuman-centered. This talk provides insig hts and approaches to better\nunderstand people’s attitudes toward socia l events and issues\, and\nimprove interpersonal and societal discourse.\n DTSTART:20230420T143000Z DTEND:20230420T153000Z LOCATION:Gerri C.
