 ics from the University of Michigan in 1978 and an MBA in\nFinance from th
 e University of Michigan in 1977.\n\nHis research has been published exten
 sively in academic and\nprofessional journals in the areas of banking\, co
 rporate finance and\napplied econometrics. He has served as an editor or a
 ssociate editor\nof several journals\, including Journal of Finance\, Jour
 nal of\nFinancial Economics\, Journal of Financial Intermediation\, Journa
 l of\nBanking and Finance\, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis
 \nand Journal of Financial Services Research. Professor James’s\ncurrent
  research focuses on the role of financial intermediaries in\nthe corporat
