Learn about what to look for\, and the impacts of\nsecurity breaches an d the release of personally identifiable\ninformation.\n\nLunch will be pr ovided.\n\nJames Espino is President of Gnostech Inc.\, a wholly owned sub sidiary\nof Braxton Science & Technology Group (BSTG)\, is an engineering and\nconsulting company with expertise in Information Assurance and\nCyber security engineering\, secure software development\, cross domain\nand mul ti-level secure information sharing\, and several other tailored\nproducts designed to help organizations secure their data and vital\ninformation. Gnostech was founded in 1981 and serves clients in San\nDiego\, CA\, the N ational Capital Region\, Colorado Springs\, and the\nPhiladelphia greater area.\n\nPrior to joining Gnostech Inc.\, James served as an officer in th e U.\nS. Coast Guard for over 20 years. His final Coast Guard assignment w as\nCommanding Officer of Military Personnel and Chief of Logistics for\nC oast Guard Sector New York\, the largest operational unit in the Coast\nGu ard. In this capacity\, he was responsible for leading the\nCommand’s pr eparation for and response to the devastation caused by\nHurricane SANDY. This included ensuring the response capabilities\,\nfacilities\, transport ation\, and communications infrastructure was\nreconstituted and secured i n order to ensure that safety and security\noperations were maintained dur ing and in the wake of the storm.\n\nPrevious to this\, James was the Dire ctor for the Coast Guard’s\nAcquisition Project Office located in Moores town\, NJ. In this\ncapacity\, he was responsible for executing Coast Guar d’s Command\,\nControl\, Communications\, Computers\, Intelligence\, Sur veillance\, and\nReconnaissance (C4ISR) procurement strategy. This $300 mi llion\ninvestment provided the National Security Cutter\, the HC130-J Long \nRange Surveillance and the HC-144A Medium Range Surveillance\naircrafts\ , and the Maritime Intelligence Fusion Centers with the most\ntechnologica lly advanced C4ISR systems ever acquired by the Coast\nGuard.\n\nJames’ previous duties included tours aboard U.S. Coast Guard\, U.S.\nNavy. and f oreign navy vessels\, officer in charge of a drug\ninterdiction and mariti me intercept operations team\, and director of\nthe office responsible for tactical communications and sensor systems.\nHe has deployed to locations the Middle East as part of the UN Embargo\noperations after the first Gul f War\, Southeast Asia and Latin America\nto conduct counter-narcotics ope rations\, and the Arctic Region.\n\nJames is a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy where he received a BS\nin Math/Computer Science. He received an MS in Information Technology\nManagement from the Naval Postgraduate Schoo l in Monterey\, CA\, and\nreceived his MBA from Drexel University. James s erves on the CustomEd\nBoard of Directors\, a South Jersey based nonprofit organization that\ndesigns and implements extraordinary programs and expe riences that\nsolve challenges in education\, training\, and outreach for a variety of\norganizations.
