Lewis is an associate professor in the John E. Walker\nDepartment of Economics who specializes in the areas of industrial \norganization\, energy economics\, and healthcare economics. His research \nconcentrates on issues related to firm pricing decisions\, price\ndynami cs\, consumer search\, and consumers’ response to price\nfluctuations. M uch of his research investigates these issues within\nthe context of the r etail gasoline market. Recently published studies\ninclude investigations of why retail gasoline prices rise faster than\nthey fall\, how consumers ’ search intensity is influenced by price\nfluctuations\, and how the pr esence of Edgeworth price cycles in retail\ngasoline markets influences th e speed of price pass-through. Current\nresearch includes projects examini ng the sensitivity of gasoline\npurchases to price fluctuations and a stud y of how hospital systems\nand managed care organizations negotiate reimbu rsement rates for\nmedical services. Prof. Lewis joined the Clemson facult y in 2013 and\nalso serves as an associate editor for the International Jo urnal of\nIndustrial Organization.
