Teams must be made up of\nboth MS Business Analytics cohorts and/or 2nd year MS Economic\nstudents. Stud ent teams work on analytics projects using open-source\ndatasets. The data sets will be provided at the Datathon. For the\nduration of the event\, st udents have the opportunity to meticulously\nturn the business problem int o a series of statistical questions\,\ndesign a technical approach\, and u se data analysis and data technology\nskills to create solutions that solv e the statistical problem at hand.\nUltimately\, teams turn their quantita tive solutions to actionable\,\nqualitative insights.\n\nAt the conclusion of the Datathon\, teams present their projects to a\npanel of judges. The presentations are 5 minutes but should briefly\noutline the data-driven i nsights for their business problem\, the scope\nof analysis\, technical ch allenges\, overall solutions\, implementation\nplan\, and expected impact on the bottom line.\n\nSchedule: 9am - 12pm: Datasets will be shared and t eams will start\nworking 12pm-1pm: Lunch break plus a presentation by Mich ael Baselice:\nPresident and CEO\, Baselice & Associates\, Inc. Michael Ba selice has\nextensive experience in political campaigns and issue/referend um\nprojects throughout the United States and abroad. His firm has\nconduc ted thousands of survey projects\, half of which are corporate\nand public affairs related. A Drexel University graduate\, Baselice\nconducts resear ch on numerous issues\, including tort reform\, medical\nliability caps on non-economic damages\, judicial selection\, and school\nfinance reform. H e also assists organizations with specific\nlegislative\, issue and image research. Prior to starting Baselice &\nAssociates\, Inc. in 1997\, Baseli ce coordinated more than 350 survey\nprojects for The Tarrance Group and w as a research analyst for the\nNational Republican Congressional Committee \, conducting opposition\nresearch and targeting projects for key congress ional campaigns.\n1pm-6pm: Continue Datathon 6pm-730pm: Presentation Prep and Dinner\n745pm-9pm: Presentations and winners announced\n\nPrior to the event there will be two Datathon Prep Workshops.
