DESCRIPTION: \n\nDr. Swanson is an applied microeconomist studying the indu
 strial\norganization of health care. Her research primarily focuses on the
 \neffects of information and incentives on both the supply side and the\nd
 emand side of health care markets. She has studied the impact of\nphysicia
 n ownership of hospitals on quality and treatment patterns\,\nthe role of 
 information in hospital purchasing of physician preference\nitems\, and ho
 w Medicare Part D enrollees respond to complex nonlinear\nprice incentives
 . Prior to The Wharton School\, she worked at Analysis\nGroup. Dr. Swanson
  holds a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts\nInstitute of Technology.
  She is also a Faculty Research Fellow at the\nNational Bureau of Economic
  Research in Cambridge\, MA.\n
